Appointments

GP appointments are 10 minutes long.

Our reception team will ask you the reason for the appointment.  This is part of CARE NAVIGATION and is part of NHS England’s 5 year forward view to ensure patients are seen by the correct person or service.

When you see the GP only one problem can be discussed during one 10 minute appointment. If you have more than one thing you want to discuss with the GP, please request a double appointment at the time of booking.

Appointments System
If you have registered with reception for EMIS Access you can book your GP appointment online.

The automated service is available to use from 6:00am until 10:45pm.

The system is self-explanatory once you telephone us on 0151 652 4281 and choose option 1, but if you would like any advice our team are very happy to help.

The practice operates a same day only appointments system. Please ring in at 8:15 on the day you wish to be seen. The receptionist will endeavour to offer you the GP of your choice, but this may not always be possible.

There are appointments morning and afternoon Monday to Friday. Double appointments are available (please ask the receptionist).

There are a limited number of pre-bookable appointments for patients who are unable to book on the day. These are a limited resource and the reception team are unable to override the system to provide any additional pre-bookable appointments, once existing ones have been allocated.

Booking in for your appointment
There is a self check in system to save patients waiting. The reception staff will be happy to explain the check in system when you attend surgery for the first time.

If you can’t keep your appointment please cancel it, as not doing so delays everybody and reduces the service provided.

For your information 36  patients did not attend their appointments last week. This meant that 305 minutes worth of appointments were wasted and means that other patients who could have been seen had to wait until another day.

If you cannot keep it please cancel it by phoning 0151 652 4281, please remember you can cancel or check appointments by telephoning the surgery from 6:00 until 22:45.

We are pleased to be able to inform you that evening and weekend GP appointments are now available for patients who are registered with this GP practice. Ask a member of reception staff for more details or call 0151 652 6077 at evenings or weekends.

If there is a situation where you must speak to the doctor, then please telephone the surgery before 11am. The receptionist will ask for details of your telephone call and the GP will endeavour to phone you back on the day if possible.

Referrals
If the doctor refers you to the hospital or other department for further care, please telephone them if you have not heard anything within one month.

Chaperones
If you feel that you would like a chaperone present during your consultation please advise your Doctor/Nurse and they will endeavour to arrange this for you.
If possible please request a chaperone when booking your appointment.
